Panthers need help behind Delhomme on the depth chart

The Panthers playoff hopes went down the drain when Jake Delhomme injured himself and missed 3 crucial games down the stretch for the Panthers.  Delhomme started 13 games and completed 263 of 431 passes (61%) for 2,805 yards with 17 TD passes and only 11 interceptions (82.6 QB Rating).  He also ran the ball 18 times for 12 yards (0.7 ypc).  For his career, Delhomme has played in 67 games (62 starts) and has completed 1,151 of 1,934 passes (59.5%) for 13,965 yards with 92 TD passes and 63 interceptions (84.0 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 124 times for 223 yards (1.8 ypc) with 5 TD runs.

Chris Weinke was the back-up this season and he stunk up the joint.  Weinke started 3 games and completed 56 of 96 passes (58.3%) for 625 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 interceptions (67.4 QB Rating).  He also ran the ball 4 times for 16 yards (4.0 ypc).  For his career, Weinke has played in 27 games (19 starts) and has completed 373 of 687 passes (54.3%) for 3,800 yards with 14 TD passes and 26 interceptions (61.4 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 54 times for 148 yards (2.7 ypc) with 6 TD runs.

Undrafted rookie Brett Basanez appeared in one game for the Panthers and completed 6 of 11 passes (54.5%) for 56 yards with 1 interception (30.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards.
