The Carolina Panthers pick CB R.J. Stanford in the 7th round

The Panthers have picked CB R.J. Stanford with the 223rd overall pick (7th round) of the NFL Draft.  Stanford is on the small side at 5’11″, 184 pounds and he doesn’t have much playing experience.  He had 43 tackles and 1 interception last season at Utah which was the only year he got onto the field for them.  I would think that he would have to make the Panthers doing most of his work on special teams.

I think RJ is an underrated player and should make an impact on the team in 2 years. His speed should not go unnoticed as he ran a 4.39 this year! I agree he’ll start on special teams but I see him getting regular play time in a year or two
