The Panthers have signed 23-year old linebacker Nic Harris to a 1-year deal.  Harris played in 15 games for the Bills last season (his rookie year) and he made 30 tackles.  Look for Harris to provide depth and linebacker and probably an ace on special teams.  I like this signing for the Panthers as Harris is still young and he has a nice upside.

The Panthers have signed 25-year old running backs Dantrelle Savage.  Savage played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Chiefs last season in which he carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards (4.5 ypc) and he also caught 7 passes for 51 yards (7.3 avg).  He also helped out on special teams returning 6 punts for 36 yards (6.0 avg) and 8 kickoffs for 160 yards (20.0 avg).  Savage has now played in 13 games (0 starts) in his two years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 25 times for 98 yards (3.9 ypc).  He also has caught 9 passes for 51 yards (5.7 avg) in his NFL career.  Savage has also returned 14 punts for 53 yards (3.8 avg) and 34 kickoffs for 793 yards (23.3 avg) in his NFL career.  This was a good depth signing for the Panthers as Savage can back up at RB while helping out on special teams.

The Carolina Panthers have signed 24-year old CB/PR/KR Brian Witherspoon after he was cut by the Lions.  Witherspoon played in 8 games with the Jaguars and Lions last season in which he made 3 tackles.  He also returned 26 kickoffs for 640 yards (24.6 avg) and 9 punts for 88 yards (9.8 avg) last season.  Witherspoon has now played in 22 games in his NFL career and he has 16 tackles.  He has also returned 80 kickoffs for 1,890 yards (23.6 avg) and 26 punts for 280 yards (10.8 avg) in his career.  The Panthers signed him for his special teams ability because he won’t offer much help on defense.

The Panthers have signed 26-year old free safety Aaron Francisco.  Francisco played in 10 games for the Colts last season in which he had 16 tackles.  He has now played in 63 games in his five years in the NFL in which he has made 159 tackles, defensed 4 passes, he had forced 1 fumble and he has 2 interceptions.  Francisco will give the Panthers depth at safety while helping out on special teams in 2010.

The Panthers have signed 27-year old linebacker Marcus Hudson to a 1-year deal.  Hudson played in 12 games for the Niners last season in which he made 21 tackles.  Hudson has now played in 48 games in his NFL career and he has made 68 tackles, forced 1 fumble and he has defensed 3 passes.  The Panthers hope that Hudson will provide quality depth at linebacker while excelling on special teams for them in 2010.
