Dan Morgan is done for the season for the Carolina Panthers

This is starting to sound like a broken record with Dan Morgan.  He will miss the remainder of the season with an Achilles Injury.  Morgan made 22 tackles this season and he will be replaced in the starting lineup with impressive rookie Jon Beason.  It’s about time for the Panthers to pull the plug on Dan Morgan.

The Carolina Panthers sign QB Drew Olson

The Panthers have signed QB Drew Olson to their practice squad but he could be the backup this Sunday if Vinny Testaverde (Achillies) and David Carr (concussion) can’t go.  Olson outplayed Troy Smith in the pre-season for the Ravens but they cut him before the season anyway.  Matt Moore will likely start this Sunday for the Panthers and he is 3 for 7 (42.9%) with 79 yards and a interception (45.2 QB Rating).  The Panthers could be in big trouble with only two undrafted rookies active at QB this week.

The Carolina Panthers place CB Curtis DeLoatch on I.R.

The Panthers have placed Curtis DeLoatch on the Injured Reserve List with a torn ACL.  He was mostly a special teams player for the Panthers this season as he has made only 5 tackles this year.  The Panthers won’t likely miss him too much the rest of the season.

David Carr is back as the starting QB for the Carolina Panthers

David Carr will start against the Titans this week despite having a compression fracture in his back which will hamper him the rest of the season.  Carr has completed 48 of 87 passes (55.2%) for 433 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions (66.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards (3.9 ypc).  Carr will replace Vinny Testaverde who has a Achilles problem.  Testaverde has completed 32 of 53 passes (60.4%) for 288 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception (73.5 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 2 times for 5 yards (2.5 ypc).

The Carolina Panthers lose QB Jake Delhomme for the rest of the season

The Panthers will be without Jake Delhomme for the remainder of the season after he underwent serious right elbow surgery.  This is a huge blow to the Panthers as Delhomme was playing at a Pro Bowl level this season.  He completed 55 of 86 passes (64%) for 626 yards with 8 TD passes and 1 interception (111.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 6 times for 26 yards (4.3 ypc).  It will be now up to David Carr to keep the offense running at a high level if he has what it takes.  He has not played too well yet this season for the Panthers.  He has completed 32 of 62 passes (51.6%) for 330 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 interceptions (64.6 QB Rating) and he also carried the football 9 times for 33 yards (3.7 ypc).  If Carr’s back acts up like it did last week the Panthers will have no choice but to turn to undrafted rookie Matt Moore who has completed 1 of 2 passes for 43 yards this season.  Look for the Panthers to run the ball more with Carr at QB.
