The Carolina Panthers release OG Reggie Wells

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 30 November 2011 at 10:19 pm

The Panthers have released 31-year old offensive guard Reggie Wells.  Wells played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Panthers this year.  He has now played in 117 games (91 starts) in his first 9 years in the NFL.  The Panthers are blocking pretty well right now, both in the running and passing game, so they shouldn’t miss Wells too much…if at all.

The Carolina Panthers release fullback Jerome Felton

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Saturday 26 November 2011 at 1:33 pm

The Panthers have released 25-year old FB Jerome Felton.  Felton played in 9 games for the Panthers this year in which he carried the ball 3 times for 10 yards (3.3 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 24 yards (12.0 avg).  He has now played in 51 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 42 times for 136 yards (3.2 ypc).  Felton has also caught 32 passes for 264 yards (8.3 avg) so far in his career.  Felton wanted the ball more, while the Panthers wanted him to block better.

The Carolina Panthers have waived safety Jermale Hines

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 17 November 2011 at 7:18 pm

The Panthers have released 24-year old, rookie safety Jermale Hines.  Hines played in 5 games for the Panthers this year and he had 3 tackles.  Hines was a fifth round pick of the Rams last April, but he didn’t get into any games for them.  The Panthers shouldn’t miss Hines too much going forward.

The Carolina Panthers waive DT Ronald Fields

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at 2:01 pm

The Panthers have waived 30-year old DT Ronald Fields.  Fields played in six games for the Panthers this year and he had 7 tackles.  Fields has now played in 87 games in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has 141 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 pass defensed.  He wasn’t doing much for the Panthers, so they shouldn’t miss him too much.

The Carolina Panthers waive DE George Selvie

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 5 October 2011 at 6:21 pm

The Panthers have waived 24-year old DE George Selvie.  Selvie played in all 4 games for the Panthers this year and he had 2 tackles.  Selvie has now played in 20 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 23 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks.  The Panthers are loaded at DE, so they should be o.k. without Selvie.

The Carolina Panthers release safety Sean Considine

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 4 October 2011 at 11:21 pm

The Panthers have released 28-year old safety Sean Considine.  Considine played in all 4 games for the Panthers this year and he didn’t have any tackles.  He did recover a fumble though.  The Panthers have claimed rookie safety Jermale Hines off waivers from the Colts.  He was a fifth round pick by the Rams out of Ohio State last April.  The Panthers are hoping that Hines can help them on special teams.

The Carolina Panthers release DE Everette Brown

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 2:50 pm

The Panthers have released 24-year old DE Everette Brown.  Brown played in 13 games for the Panthers last year and he had 25 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception and 1 pass defensed.  He played in 28 games in his two years with the Panthers and he had 47 tackles, 6 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 1 interception and 3 passes defensed.  I was surprised by this move by the Panthers as Brown is certainly going to get snapped up by another team on waivers.

The Carolina Panthers release WR David Clowney

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 2:09 pm

The Panthers have released 26-year old WR David Clowney.  Clowney played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Panthers last year and he caught 6 passes for 102 yards (17.0 avg).  He has played in 28 games (3 starts) in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 22 passes for 341 yards (15.5 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This is not much of a loss for the Panthers who have loaded up at WR for the 2011 season.

The Carolina Panthers release FB Tony Fiammetta

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 9:06 pm

The Panthers have released 25-year old fullback Tony Fiammetta.  Fiammetta played in 14 games (9 starts) for the Panthers last year and he carried the ball 7 times for 22 yards (3.1 ypc).  He also caught 5 passes for 34 yards (6.8 avg) last year.  Fiammetta played in 24 games (11 starts) in his two years with the Panthers but he didn’t touch the ball as a rookie.  The recent claim of fullback Jerome Felton off waivers essentially ended Fiammetta’s tenure with the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers waive CB/S C.J. Wilson

Blogged under Big Panther News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 5:31 pm

The Panthers have waived 26-year old CB/S C.J. Wilson.  Wilson played in 8 games for the Panthers last year and he had 13 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.  Wilson played in 23 games in his four years with the Panthers and he had 27 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 1 fumble recovery.  The Panthers don’t have much need for Wilson anymore as they have improved the secondary and special teams in the offseason.
